11:38 am - Insert long thought process here...
More and more, I'm coming to enjoy more unusual, imperfect relationships. More interesting than the sickeningly sweet crap of harlequin novels and bad fanfics. The cooing and endless repetition of "No, I love YOU more..." ugh. Shoot THEM now. People have pasts and issues (and subscriptions^^), they don't go away just because they find someone. It may lessen and sometimes they can get over it with a mate to help them, but it doesn't just disappear. Imperfect people that find they can deal with each other and their problems, that find happiness despite all the crap they've gone through, that's more satisfying.

I've always liked the idea of "opposites attract". Many of my characters have very different personalities compared to their partners. But despite that, they still have something in common, some way to get along with each other. Reminds me of the yinyang symbol (and is the main reason YinYang was titled that way), two different halves that need each other and have a bit of each other in them. One emotionally stunted, twisted control freak can find everything he needs to be content in a smartass with a violent temper and trust issues. They started off hating each other, only enjoying the thrill of pissing each other off, and that turns into the realization that the only one who really understands them is the rival. (Can anyone guess who? ^^)

I told you it was long... )

12:45 am - Fandom Meme: Stolen from Kit
Fandom Meme

Hetalia
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place? Nangke mentioned it. Can't remember if it was because she thought I'd like it or not, but once I got around to checking the link she posted up, it was all over and I was hooked. ^^

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on? I'll always check in, even if its only every so often. It combines two of my favorite things, anime and history. Can't miss with that combination.

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.? The Cleaning the Storage strips/episodes about America and England's early history leading up to the revolution. Also like the strips about Spain & Romano's history together.

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)? I've written a couple fanfics and made several comments on the main community. I'm also playing Norway and Classical Greece in an rpg.

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom? If they like history, learning things about the world or different cultures, then they definitely should.

9:20 am - Meme from Ailla
Figured if I was going to do this, might as well open it to a wider audience. ^^

Ask any character I've written for advice, and they will provide it, advice columnist style. Your problems or fictional characters' problems both welcome. Management is not responsible for the results of following said advice.

8:09 pm - That time again...
Christmas Carol torture time!

This year's victim is O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Title Pending Christmas Carol

O little town of Tokyo
Will time/space rip tonight?
As zombie plagues & magic cures
Strike at some cracked whim.
Hitsuzen and free choice clash
As "epic" battles rage,
And futures of eight alt. worlds
Are ret-conned here tonight.

If I manage to corrupt the lesser-sung other verses they'll show up later. ^^

9:40 pm - Extreme Road Trip 2008
I survived! ^^

That's really the total feeling for the trip. It wasn't all bad of course, but it was full of errors at times and once or twice utterly terrifying. Just some random thoughts on the trip so I don't forget them all trying to make paragraphs outta the story. In chronological order.

Extreme fits it all )

12:08 am - Beijing Olympics
I only ended up watching the last part of it as people on cosplay.com were talking about the fancy costumes. But DAMN. If China's good at anything, it's pagentry. That was the coolest opening ceremonies I've ever seen. They had 8 torch bearers play relay, and then the last guy was lifted into the air up by the cavernous roof of the stadium. A scroll was projected onto the wall, unfolding as he mimed running across it for the entire length of the stadium. Behind the scroll came pictures of the torch's run across the world. The enormous spiraled silver/red torch appeared over the top of the stadium (that thing looks to be 2 stories tall) and as the bearer neared he stopped at a long bar that he lit. It burst into flame and shot towards the torch, spiraling up it to explode into flame at the top. And then massive amounts of fireworks from around the stadium, including some that resembled the Olympic rings.

Apparently Vancouver has Winter 2010, and London 2012. It's gonna be DAMN hard to beat this. ^^

7:46 pm - Chess Pawn test

Your result for Which Chess Piece are You Test?...

The Knight's City Guard

Congrats! Only 10-13% of the population score this!

The Knight’s City Guard is characterized by the desire to serve others in times of need. Sometimes this drive is so powerful that the standard ‘give-and-take’ is unsatisfying. They are bound very much to social convention and don’t like to include moral or political controversy. The City Guard is often forgotten because they are so reliable. They are loyal and great producers of quality – which end up allowing others to take for granted what the City Guard gives. They are hurt by being treated as a doormat but are unwilling to toot their own horn about accomplishments. This is due to that it feels somewhat wrong to want a reward for doing work which is a virtue in itself.

The City Guard can be overworked and suffer from self inflicted headaches. They are methodical workers with good memories and analytical abilities. They are great in small groups because of their patience. They make pleasant co-workers and better employees. They tend to feel a bit harried by supervisory roles. They form strong loyalties of a personal nature. This is opposed to institutional loyalty. If someone leaves the company that’s close to this type – they may leave as well. They are perfect as teachers, administrators, clerics and fit right in amongst nursing or medical careers.

The Knight’s City guard is concerned with harmony and traditional behavior. They have a few close friends and are extremely loyal. Don’t confront them, they hate that. Also if the Knight’s City Guard is moody – it could be because they haven’t shared something of importance. Most friends of the City Guard feel ashamed later when finding out why the Guard refused to share the source of their trouble. This ‘Pawn’ is wonderful because they are the diplomat of emotions and needs. They are society’s most constructive and protective member.

Was a good suspenseful movie, but also terrfying at the same time. Completely reiterates the fact that Light has ISSUES with a capital I.

Also is a very good reason to keep my hated middle name from ever seeing the light of day. It will never exist as anything more than an initial.

Borrowed from Kitsunenomiko and AllanonKisigar:

A quick game of "name the song and artist." Because on Livejournal, every repost is a repost repost.

Step 1. Put your playlist on random.
Step 2. Post a line from the first 25 songs that play.
Step 3. Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

Like everyone else, the selection process is changed a bit.
*No instrumental tracks. Not a problem, as I have very few.^^
*No one-lyric songs. "Is There Anybody Out There" is a lovely track and all, but it kinda gives itself away.
*In the same vein, all songs must have at least one complete, coherent lyric that doesn't include the song title.
*There may be anime songs here, but I'll use only those with English lyrics. (Sadly, that kills at LEAST half my library...)

*Some of these songs reflect certain characters of mine. I dare anyone to guess which belongs to who. ^^

I have such weird tastes... )

11:46 am - Tin Man and Folk Songs
The dancing princess' song they use in Tin Man sounds an awful lot like an old girl scout song I sung at camp. Random lyrics to it were running in my head til I looked them up today. Half the songs Girl Scouts sing are folk songs, and this is no different.

Rose, Rose

Rose rose rose rose
shall i ever see thy wed
i shall marry at thy will sire
at thy will

Hey Ho Nobody home
Meat nor drink nor money have I none
Still I will be married
Hey ho nobody home

ding dong ding dong
wedding bells on a september morn.
carve thy name on a moss covered stone
on a moss covered stone

There's a whole mess of other lyrics, changes, additions and whatnot associated with the song too apparently, and no one can find where it originally came from or any record of it before the 1900's. Since it seems so easy to attach lyrics to the tune, I wonder what purpose the tune really had.
